If used properly, Tarot cards are so accurate at "seeing your future" it's almost uncanny. However, in order to experience these results, you've got to understand a few things about Tarot cards...starting with the "type" of Tarot cards that will give you the best results...

IMPORTANT: if you plan to hire a tarot reader, verify they are using one of these decks first...
* Rider-Waite deck - a wonderful beginner Tarot deck...
* Golden Dawn mystic - easy to understand, and beautiful to look at...
* Hanson Roberts deck
* Robin Wood deck
* Aquariun deck
So make sure one of these decks are being used...unless you have a very specific part of your future you are looking for. In that case some specialty decks can be used.
If you plan on reading Tarot cards on your own (which I highly recommend...you'll get better results...), it's important to understand a bit more about them.
A Tarot deck is an ancient tool for divining the future.
The origin of the Tarot is a little bit of a secret. A theory by Aleister Crowley is that Tarot cards can be traced back to ancient Egyptians... but the first "known" Tarot cards were seen in 1392. They were used for gambling at first, but later were used to see the future after discovering some magical properties.
Now, after you've had some experience with one of the 5 decks I mention above, you can look into various specialty decks that focus on a certain theme.
For example, there's "Herbal Tarot" which has images of herbs on each card. This works well for tarot readings focused specifically on health and healing.
Then there's the "Thoth Tarot". These have references to Egyptian mythology, numerology, and the Qabballah. This is a very difficult (but powerful) deck to work with, and the symbology goes extremely deep.
Then there's one of the most beautiful decks known as "Voyager Tarot". It contains modern and ancient images, blended together in collages. It was created to connect with the subconscious mind. Keep in mind it is the most modern tarot deck out there, but it was created based on ancient decks. It is also very difficult to read and takes a lot of practice and research.
Finally..my favorte: the "Tarot Of The Cat People". It is perfect if you love cats, as I do. Representations of the cat people appear on every card, and they are absolutley beautiful. The readings I've done with this deck and accurate and insightful...life changing to say the least.
Keep in mind, you may have different experiences with these decks than myself, or anybody else. We are all different and each person will resonate to different Tarot decks in a different way.
Just make sure the deck speaks to you... and if you're going to use a Tarot reader, make sure to find him/her out in the real world. Speak with them first, and make sure they resonate with you as well.
